Qizhao Chen
PhD student in Mechanical Engineering
I am a second-year Ph.D. student in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) department at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
I am currently a graduate researcher at UCLA PRACTICE Lab, supervised by professor Anushri Dixit. My research focuses on integrating foundation models with conformal prediction to provide statistical assurance in embodied navigation. By combining high-level reasoning from foundation models with calibrated uncertainty estimates, I aim to enable robot agents that can explore complex unseen environments safely and adaptively. My primary research interests lie in robotics, with a focus on safe and reliable decision-making with AI.
